News from the Wolf Den - December 11th, 2013

Even though there is only a little more than one week left before we break for the holidays, we still have a lot going on at school!  Semester exams will be given December 16 through 19 according to the following schedule:

Monday, December 16                       English Language Arts

Tuesday, December 17                       Social Studies

Wednesday, December 18                  Mathematics

Thursday, December 19                      Science

The first Blood Drive of the school year was held this week in the high school auditorium and was, as with previous drives, a success.  We exceeded the amount they had set as our goal, donating 37 units of blood.  Many thanks to the students and staff who helped make this possible.

Middle School students attended UIL competition this week at West Sabine High School.  I'll have results on their efforts in next week's paper.

High School band members will be attending All-Region band competition tomorrow, Friday December 13; Middle School band members will be competing on Saturday the 14th.  Both competitions are in Winona - Good Luck, band members!

Also in band news, the annual Christmas Concert will be held in the high school gymnasium at 7:00 PM Thursday, December 19.  Prior to that, starting at 5:30, the Band Boosters will be hosting a Chili Dinner across the street at the high school cafeteria.  A good steaming bowl of chili with all the toppings will cost you $6, with proceeds going to benefit the band program.  A drink and homemade dessert is also a part of the deal.  See any band member for pre-sell tickets and support your local band!

Ms. Sharon Cartwright, Counselor, reports there is a free virtual college fair scheduled for the week of December 9th through the 14th.  Students can log on any time during this week and get information from colleges.  There will be times set up at each institution's booth for a live chat session with a college representative.  Students must go to www.collegefairsonline.com to the students tab register.  This service is completely free.  Ms. Cartwright will be putting a link on her website.  Juniors and seniors were given this information in their monthly newsletter.
