December Students of the Month

SAISD – December Students of the Month

Elementary:

The Pre-K Student of the Month for December is Zuri Cotton. Zuri is the 4 yr old daughter of LaKeith and Holly Cotton, and she is the granddaughter of Richard and Lori Mackey, Verna Cotton and James Watts. Zuri has learned all her letters, both upper and lower case, as well as recognizing her numbers 1 through 30 and she counts to 100. She is a wonderful helper, friend and classmate to the other children in her class. Mrs. Chronda Williams and Mrs. Fannie Holman are so proud of Zuri and feel blessed to have her in their class this year.

The Kindergarten Student of the Month for December is Luis Aguilar, Jr.  Luis is a wonderful role model. He works very hard on everything he does. He is a good listener and encourages others to do the same. He always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He wants to be a construction worker when he grows up, and attend the “Texas” school. When he is at school he enjoys coloring and his favorite subject is math. When he is at home he likes to play outside. Luis is the son of Ana Lidia Cucue and Luis A. Aguilar Sr. and he is in Mrs. Lisa Ainsworth’s homeroom.

The 1st grade Student of the Month for December is Aaliyah Farr. Aaliyah said that her favorite thing about school is PE, and when she gets older she wants to be a high school cheerleader, but after that she hasn’t given it much thought. In her spare time she enjoys riding her bike. Aaliyah is the daughter of Lisa Brown and is in Mrs. Billie Jo Bellamy’s homeroom.

The 2nd grade Student of the Month for December is Caiden Nelson. Caiden was chosen because of the leadership he shows in the classroom as well as outside of it. Caiden thinks “outside the box” when it comes to the classroom lessons and he uses unconventional methods to complete the task. He is very creative and artistic. Caiden is the son of Autumn Fennell and he is Mrs. Kelly Beall’s homeroom.

The 3rd grade Student of the Month for December is Alexis Jackson. Alexis is an awesome student who does well in all her subjects. She loves to read, spend the night at her cousins, work out at the gym and play with her cat, Mr. Jingles, whom she loves dearly. She wants to be a veterinarian when she gets older. Her favorite color is pink, and she is the baby of the family. Alexis is the daughter of Brian and Jennifer Jackson and is in Mrs. Jennifer Cecil’s homeroom.

The 4th grade Student of the Month for December is Mya Farr. Mya’s favorite subject is math. When she is not at school she enjoys going outside, but lately it has been too cold, so she enjoys watching TV. When she gets older she wants to be an astronaut because she is not afraid of heights. Mya is the daughter of Lisa Brown and is in Donna Buchman’s homeroom.

The 5th grade Student of the Month for December is Autumn McCallum. Autumn’s favorite subject is science. She enjoys arts and crafts in her free time. When she grows up she wants to be a geologist or zoologist. She says that she likes school because the students and teachers help her learn and become a better person. Autumn is the daughter of Joe McCallum and she is in Mrs. Kristin Ham’s classroom.

High School:

The 6th grade Student of the Month for December is Jareli Castro.  Jareli is the daughter of Teresita Gallardo and Fransico Castro.  Her favorite subject is math and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Richardson because she is always helping her students and she makes them laugh.  Jareli enjoys playing volleyball. She plans to go to college and become a teacher after she finishes high school.

The 7th grade Student of the Month for December is Yuridia Duarte.  Yuridia is the daughter of Nora and Raudel Duarte. Her favorite subject is Texas History and her favorite teacher is Coach Cotten because he is nice, funny, and playful in his class.  She is involved in UIL, volleyball, basketball and 4-H. In her spare time, she enjoys playing outside with her siblings. Yuridia plans to go to college and become a Game Warden when she finishes high school.

The 8th grade Student of the Month for December is JoLon Garner.  JoLon is the son of Alex and Ideria Garner. His favorite subject is U.S. History and his favorite teacher is Coach Randle because he always pushes him to work harder.  He is involved in football and track and field. In his free time, he enjoys walking his dog. JoLon plans to go to Texas A&M and get a degree in naval architecture.

The 9th grade Student of the Month for December is Kalissa Barnes.  Kalissa is the daughter of Preshos Crane and Christopher L. Barnes.  Her favorite subject is English and her favorite teacher is Ms. Erath because she understands her students and she is always there for them.  In her free time, she enjoys swimming and spending time with her family. Kalissa plans to help her mom after she finishes high school and spend as much time with her as possible.

The 10th grade Student of the Month for December is Del’Marquise Barnes.  Del’Marquise is the son of Tiffany Barnes and Kendrick Haggerty. His favorite subject is math and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Meredith.  He is involved in football, basketball, track and baseball. In his spare time, he enjoys playing games and being around his family and friends.  Del’Marquise hopes to play college football and become a welder or construction engineer.

The 11th grade Student of the Month for December is Edmond Smith.  Edmond is the son of Eddie and Annie Smith. His favorite subject is art and his favorite teacher is Ms. Meier because she is a very nice person.  He is involved in FFA and the Art Club. In his spare time, he enjoys drawing and welding. Edmond plans to go to the military and then later work for the railroad or maybe even become a truck driver.

The 12th grade Student of the Month for December is Tatyanna Handy.  Tatyanna is the daughter of Lakeitha Holmes and Calvin Handy.  Her favorite subject is floral design and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Seale.  She is a member of the National Honor Society. Tatyanna plans to go to college and study to become an RN and a neonatal nurse.
