Students of the Month for February!

SAISD - February Students of the Month
Elementary:

The Pre-K Student of the Month for February was Camden Robinson. Camden is a wonderful student who listens and fully participates in the lesson. She gives great answers to questions, counts to 100 on her own, and can write her first and last name. She sounds out and spells words for her teacher and uses her free time to write them on the board for all to see. On many occasions Mrs. Jackson has to tell her to, ”kiss your brain” because it is so smart. She is well on her way to being a very successful Kindergartener. Camden is the daughter of Marchandra Boyer and is in Ndidika Jackson’s class.

The Kindergarten Student of the Month for February was Jahyda Brooks. Jahyha is the 6 year old daughter of Kelvin and Courtney Brooks. She is a member of the local girl scouts, and loves selling cookies and learning with the other girl scouts in her club. Her favorite subject in school is Math because she likes to count and write numbers. Her favorite after school activities include drawing and coloring pictures as well as watching her favorite TV show, Ella the Enchanted. Jahyda’s biggest role models are her parents, because they love her all the time, no matter what and give the best hugs and kisses. Jahyda is a very bright, selfless, and caring person. She is always willing to go the extra mile to help others succeed. Jahyda is in Mrs. Jami Birdwell’s class.

The 1st Grade Student of the Month for February was Blessed Garrett. Blessed is the 7 year old daughter of Demeko and Chudney Garrett. She is a wonderful student and always gives 100 %! She is a very polite young lady and a joy to have in class. Blessed is always eager to help out when needed and has a sweet personality. She is well liked by everyone she meets. Blessed is an all around great young lady. Her teachers, Mrs. Melba Pahal and Mrs. Anissa Smith are very proud of her!

The 2nd Grade Student of the Month for February was Michael Hilton. Michael is the son of Michael Sr. and Amanda Hilton. Michael is very respectful, caring, polite and works very hard to complete all class assignments. He sets a great example for his peers. He enjoys reading book, especially about dinosaurs, and loves to share the information that he has learn with the class. Michael is truly a joy to have in class. He is in Ms. Marchandra Boyer's class.
The 3rd Grade Student of the Month for February was JaMyia Barnes. JaMyia is a leader in her class and a very hard working student. She is always willing to help others and her teacher. She is the daughter of Tameka Wade and Jamarticus Barnes. She has 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Her favorite subject is reading, and her spare time she enjoys riding her electric scooter. JaMyia is in Ms. Sue Ross' class.

The 4th Grade Student of the Month for February was Jolon Garner. Jolon's parents are Alex and Ideria Garner. He has 2 siblings, Synia Garner who is in Kindergarten and Ityria Garrett who is in the 10th Grade. Jolon is a student with many qualities that excellent students exhibit. He meets all of his teachers expectations of politeness, respect, integrity, determination, and excellence! His favorite subject is Math, and in his spare time he enjoys riding his bike. Jolon is in Mrs. Maureen Carlton’s class. Congratulations to Jolon.

The 5th Grade Student of the Month for February was Destinee Rodgers. Destinee is the daughter of Cherica Rodgers. Her Godparents are Kim Polk, and Suzanne and Sanford Brooks. Her favorite subject is science. What she enjoys the most is playing with friends, reading, singing, and going to church. When she grows up she wants to be a Pediatrician. She is in Mrs. Tammie Jacobs' homeroom.

Middle School:
The 6th grade Student of the Month for February was Kira Palmer. Kira is the daughter of Polly Bluford. Her favorite subject in school is band and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Ham because she loves learning about science in her class. Kira enjoys singing, acting and shooting arrows. When she graduates, Kira would love to go to fine arts college and study from a real actor.

The 7th grade Student of the Month for February was Anna Waller. Anna is the daughter of Vicky and Billy Waller and sister to Kevin, Ria, and Jacey. Anna says her favorite subject is athletics and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Whittlesey because she is strict and she can understand her more. Anna can play the flute, piano, violin and is also learning to play the trumpet. When she graduates, Anna wants to go to Stephen F. Austin and study in the medical field and later become a trauma doctor.

The 8th grade Student of the Month for February was Christian Tapia. Christian is the son of Laboriel and Lourdes Tapia and brother to Astrid. His favorite subject is band and his favorite teacher is Mr. Haynie because he helps him in band. Christian enjoys playing the tuba, baking, soccer and computers. When he graduates he plans to go to college and go to Mexico for one year.

High School:
The 9th grade Student of the Month for February was LaSharvia Edwards. LaSharvia is the daughter of LaTorshia Sigler and Lynze Edwards. Her favorite subject is English. She plans to go to the University of Houston and study pharmacology. She participates in volleyball and basketball. LaSharvia is a member of Student Council. LaSharvia would like to thank her teachers for pushing her to get where she is and not giving up on her.

The 10th grade Student of the Month for February was Kiundrea Sigler. Kiundrea is the daughter of Tamika Dade and David Sigler. Her favorite subject is English III. She plans to go to Panola College and study nursing. Kiundrea enjoys running track and playing basketball. She is a member of FCCLA. Kiundrea would like to thank her teachers for choosing her as student of the month.

The 11th grade Student of the Month for February was Emily Lester. Emily is the daughter of Rachel and Henry Paul Lester. Her favorite subject is English. She plans to go to the U.S. Air Force Academy and study psychology. Emily enjoys playing the clarinet, twirling, powerlifting and public speaking. She holds the office of Historian for the Student Council and the SAHS National Honor Society. She is also involved in the Interact club and is the District Guard in the Ladies Auxiliary. Emily would like to thank her teachers for spending time helping her with her work and assisting with her journey to success.

The 12th grade Student of the Month for February was Jada White. Jada is the daughter of Jacqueline and Lonnie White. Her favorite subject is forensics. She plans to go to Stephen F. Austin State University and study speech pathology. Jada enjoys helping others. She is the Sr. Class President and the Interact Club Treasurer. She is also involved in cheerleading, Student Council, and National Honor Society. Jada would like to say thank you to her teachers.
