My Mission

As School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students.  I look forward to offering support to students, staff, families, and community members.

My goal is to create a positive and supportive environment conducive to learning and success.  Please know that I am dedicated in making every possible effort to make certain that all students receive as much personal assistance as possible to ensure that their years at San Augustine High School are productive and meaningful.

Como la Consejera Escolar, mi responsabilidad primordial es promover el desarrollo académico, social y personal de todos los estudiantes.  Estaré ofreciendo siempre el mejor apoyo a estudiantes, maestros, familias y miembros de la comunidad.

Mi objetivo es crear un entorno positivo y propicio para el aprendizaje y el éxito.  Quiero que sepan que estoy dedicada en hacer todo el esfuerzo posible para asegurarme que todos los estudiantes reciban la mayor atención como sea posible para asegurar que sus años en la Escuela Preparatoria San Augustine (San Augustine High School) sea productiva y significativa.

ETREYS and Government-in-Action Youth Tour

Sophomores and juniors who are interested in applying for an opportunity to attend the 2014 East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar (ETREYS) and the 2014 Government-in-Action Youth Tour may pick up applications from Ms. Cartwright in the Counseling Center.  The deadline for returning completed applications to Ms. Cartwright is Friday, February 21st.

SAT Prep Class

Juniors who are interested in taking the SAT prep class which will be offered via Distance Learning need to come by the Counseling Center and sign up.  The class size is restricted to 20.  The first 20 students will be guaranteed a spot.  The class will meet on the following dates and times:  February 18th, 19th, and 20th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and February 25th, 26th, and 27th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

January SAT Deadline

Students who plan to take the January 25th SAT must be registered by Friday, December 27th.

February ACT Deadline

Students who plan to take the February 8th ACT which will be given at San Augustine High School must be registered by Friday, January 10th.

ASVAB Interpretation

Juniors and seniors will be receiving their ASVAB scores on Monday, January 13th.  Dr. Robinson will be back to interpret the scores with students on that day.

Virtual College Fair-December 9th-14th

There is a virtual college fair this week.  Go to www.collegefairsonline.com to the students tab to register.  This service is completely free!  You can log on any time during the week and get information from many colleges.  There will be times set up at each institution's booth for a live chat session with a college representative.

Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program

The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program (HOBY) is the nation’s foremost youth leadership development organization.  HOBY programs provide youth with unique leadership training to make a better world.  The conference is open to sophomores.

This  year’s conference will be held June 6th-8th, 2014 in Galveston, Texas. 

Interested sophomores can apply by:

  1. In 100 words or less, describe the most rewarding and challenging aspect of being a leader in your school and community.
  2. Turn in the completed essay no later than Wednesday, December 4th to Ms. Cartwright.
  3. A committee will choose SAHS’s ambassador.
  4. The chosen ambassador will be notified no later than Friday, December 6th.

Lions Club Applications Due December 6th

Students who wish to be considered for the Texas Lions Club Scholarship opportunities must turn in their prospective projects on or before December 6th.

Angelina College Recruiting Visit

An Admission's Counselor from Angelina College will be on campus Wednesday, November 13th, during 4th period to talk to seniors.  The meeting will be in the library.

Panola College Recruiting Visit for Seniors

An Admission's Counselor from Panola College will be on campus Thursday, November 7th, during 3rd period to talk to seniors.  The meeting will be in the library.
