OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION:

The mission of the San Augustine ISD Police Department is to maintain a safe environment in which staff can inspire, teachers can teach, and students can realize their hopes and dreams.  We will accomplish this by staying vigilant, proactive, approachable and compassionate. 

OUR DEPARTMENT:

The San Augustine ISD Police Department (SAISD PD) is a fully authorized agency which was formed by a resolution passed by the Board of Trustees in May of 2020. It received its authority from the Texas Education Code.  All Officers are commissioned by the State of Texas with all legal power and authority granted them under the laws of the State of Texas. 

The Department has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which allows it to work closely with the San Augustine Police Department and the San Augustine Sheriff's Office on cases occurring on overlapping jurisdictions.

SAISD PD is currently comprised of a Police Chief, Ben Miller.  Police Headquarters is located at 702 N. Clark St.

Chief Miller is fully immersed in our campuses.  In addition to maintaining law and order, he builds rapport with students and offers guidance in an effort to deter criminal behavior.  He is available to talk to parents/guardians who may have concerns about their student.

The department also manages the District's Emergency Operations Plan.  This duty consist of training staff/students on evacuation drills, lock down procedures, and various other emergency related procedures.

Police Jurisdiction:

The jurisdiction of the San Augustine ISD Police Officers is all territory within the geographical boundaries of the District and all property, real and personal, outside the geographical boundaries of the District that is owned, leased, or rented by or otherwise under the District's control. 

Vision Statement:

The vision of the San Augustine ISD Police Department is to cultivate an environment of quality public service, through Community Oriented Policing, that fosters stronger partnerships with our student, staff and community.
