My Mission

As School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students.  I look forward to offering support to students, staff, families, and community members.

My goal is to create a positive and supportive environment conducive to learning and success.  Please know that I am dedicated in making every possible effort to make certain that all students receive as much personal assistance as possible to ensure that their years at San Augustine High School are productive and meaningful.

Como la Consejera Escolar, mi responsabilidad primordial es promover el desarrollo académico, social y personal de todos los estudiantes.  Estaré ofreciendo siempre el mejor apoyo a estudiantes, maestros, familias y miembros de la comunidad.

Mi objetivo es crear un entorno positivo y propicio para el aprendizaje y el éxito.  Quiero que sepan que estoy dedicada en hacer todo el esfuerzo posible para asegurarme que todos los estudiantes reciban la mayor atención como sea posible para asegurar que sus años en la Escuela Preparatoria San Augustine (San Augustine High School) sea productiva y significativa.

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Piney Woods Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship

Scholarship application are now available for the Piney Woods Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship.  This scholarship is open to applicants planning on majoring in an agriculture or science field which is related to agriculture.  This also includes welding and diesel mechanics.
 
Applications may be obtained in the Counseling Center.
 
Completed applications must be turned in to Ms. Cartwright on or before March 30th.
 
 
 
 

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Women's Service League Scholarhsip

The San Augustine Women's Service League is now taking applications for a scholarship(s) to be given to a San Augustine High School graduating senior.
 
Applications may be obtained in the Counseling Center.
 
Completed applications are due to Ms. Cartwright  on or before April 5th.

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Lincoln High School Class of 1967 Academic Assistance Scholarship

The Lincoln High School Class of 1967 is proud to announce the availability of the Lincoln High School Class of 1967 Academic Assistance Scholarship.  This scholarship has been developed to support those African American students graduating from San Augustine ISD who plan to attend a trade school, Jr. College or four-year institution.  
 
To be eligible to apply, students must:
1)  be a senior at San Augustine High School
2)  must have passed all parts of the STAAR test
3) must meet certain GPA requirements as outlined on the application.
 
Applications may be obtained in the Counseling Center.
 
Completed applications are due to Ms. Cartwright on or before April 20th.
 
 

Seniors: Angelina Scholarship Deadline Extended

Angelina College has extended the High School Priority Deadline for the Angelina College General Scholarship Application to March 21st, 2018
 
The Smith-Hutson Scholarship Deadline is also March 21st, 2018

Reminder for Seniors: Deadline to Register for Panola Preview Day is Friday

This is a reminder that the deadline for students to register for Senior Preview Day at Panola College is Friday, February 16.  
 
The Senior Preview Day is a structured event (for current seniors) that will take place from 8:30AM-11AM.  The students will be divided into groups and rotate around campus.  The day will include a campus tour and presentations regarding admissions, testing, financial aid, residence life and academics.
 
Spring Fling is on the same day from 11AM-1PM and the students who attend Senior Preview Day are also invited to participate.  It is a come and go event with numerous activities for students.   Lunch will be provided.

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: San Augustine County Go-Texan Scholarship

The San Augustine Go-Texans will award a scholarship again this year to a senior in San Augustine County.  To be eligible to apply, students must:
 
1)  Have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher;
2)  Must have been enrolled in 4-H or FFA for a minimum of  2 years during high school;
3)  Must be a US citizen and a graduating senior from a San Augustine County High School.
 
Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
 
Deadline:  May 1st to Ms. Cartwright.

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Rotary Club of San Augustine, Texas

The San Augustine Rotary Club is proud to be awarding the San Augustine Rotary Scholarships to deserving seniors in San Augustine County.
 
The $1000 scholarship will be distributed $500 per semester for two semesters upon proof of college enrollment.
 
Applications can be obtained in the Counseling Center.
 
Deadline:  March 31st to Ms. Cartwright

Seniors: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: San Augustine 4-H Council Scholarship

All San Augustine County 4-H members who are high school seniors and who have been enrolled in 4-H a minimum of 4 years are eligible to apply for the San Augustine County 4-H Council Scholarship.  Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500 each.
 
Requirements:
 
1)  Have completed four years of 4-H club work with active membership at the the time of application.
 
2)  Enroll as a full-time student in an accredited course of study for the fall 2018 semester.
 
Applications can be obtained in the Counseling Center.
 
Deadline:  May 1st to Ms. Cartwright
 
 
 

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Earl Chumley Scholarship

The San Augustine Junior Livestock Scholarship in Memory of Earl Chumley is open to seniors who meet the following eligibility criteria:
 
1)  Must  have an average of 80 or above;
 
2)  Must have a minimum ACT score of 14;
 
3)  Must have been enrolled in 4H, FFA, or FHA for a minimum of 3 years;
 
4)  Must be a US citizen and live in San Augustine County.
 
Applications can be obtained in the Counseling Center.
 
Deadline:  March 9th to Ms. Cartwright

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Portacool

To be eligible to apply for the Portacool Scholarship students must:
 
1)  Be the dependent of a full-time employee of any division of Portacool who has been actively employed with Portacool for at least six consecutive months as of January 1, 2018.
 
2)  Be a high school graduating senior.
 
3)  Be planning on entering an accredited higher education institution in the fall of 2018.
 
4)  Be a US citizen or have permanent residency.
 
Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
 
Application Deadline:  May 1, 2018.
 

SENIORS: LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Shelby Bass Anglers Scholarships

The Shelby County Bass Anglers are offering 2 scholarships again this year for seniors:  The Shelby Bounty Bass Anglers Scholarship and the Stanley Burgay Memorial Scholarship.
 
Scholarship applications are available in the Counseling Center.
 
Due Date:  May 1, 2018.

The San Augustine County Farm Bureau's C.B. Richards Memorial Scholarship program is meant to extend educational opportunities for area youth and to promote Farm Bureau in the community.
 
In order to apply, applicants must:
 
1)  Be a qualified senior in San Augustine County;
2)  Be accepted to an accredited college, university, or trade school;
3)  Student's parents must be San Augustine Farm Bureau members.
 
Applications can be obtained in the Counseling Center.
