February Students of the Month

SAISD - Students of the Month for February


Elementary:

The Pre-K Student of the Month for February is Brayley Gandy. Brayley is the daughter of Brandi Strother. She is a very special little girl and very well behaved. She knows all upper and lower case letters, 26 letter sounds, recognizes numbers 1- 20 as well as all colors and shapes. She is always willing to help her teachers as well as other students. Ms. Williams and Mrs. Fannie feel so blessed to have Brayley in their class and hope they can have her next year as well.

The Kindergarten Student of the Month for February is Jayceon Clark. Jayceon was chosen for this honor because of his strong principles. He always shows fairness to his peers when in a small group or even whole group activities. Jayceon’s favorite subject is Math. Jayceon enjoys playing on his Playstation with his friend Juan whenever he gets a chance. He would like to be a basketball coach when he grows up. Jayceon is the son of Natalya Clark, and he is in Mrs. Rachel Bennett’s homeroom.

The 1st Grade Student of the Month for February is Jose Larraga. Jose is very well behaved, he never gets into trouble and is a hard worker. His favorite subject is PE. Jose enjoys watching TV after school. When he gets older he would like to be a policeman. Jose is the son of Yanira and Manuel Larraga, and he is in Mrs. Heidi Pritchett’s homeroom.

The 2nd Grade Student of the Month for February is Jesus Gervacio-Palacios. Jesus is a wonderful student who works hard and plays by the rules. He enjoys playing soccer with his cousins. His favorite part of school is Math. He hasn’t given it much thought of what he would like to be when he grows up, but he has a lot of time to decide!  Jesus is the son of Griselda Palacios and Francisco Gervacio, and he is in Mrs. Kelly Beall’s homeroom.

The 3rd Grade Student of the Month for February is Adalyn Duarte. Adalyn is an awesome student who works hard in everything she does. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother. Her favorite subject is Reading. In her spare time, she enjoys playing basketball and playing with her 3 dogs and 2 cats. When she gets older she would like to be a Game Warden. Adalyn is the daughter of Raudel Duarte and Nora Duarte Luna.

The 4th Grade Student of the Month for February is Quenstavian Holman. Quenstavion is a new proud uncle of a little boy!    Quenstavion is hard working student who enjoys reading and playing his Nintendo Switch. He has big plans for his future, as he would like to become a policeman. Quenstavion is the son of Quennon and Stacey Holman.

The 5th Grade Student of the Month for February is Blessed Love Garrett. Blessed is an awesome student who works hard, shows respect to her teachers and her peers, and is well behaved. She does great in all her subjects, but reading is her favorite. In her free time, she enjoys watching TV and playing with her sisters and cousins. When she gets older she would like to be a writer. When Blessed was asked what her favorite thing was about San Augustine Elementary School, she said that we have great teachers and she likes how we all work together as a team and count on each other. Blessed is the daughter of Demeko and Chudney Garrett. She is in Miss Jessica Fuller’s homeroom.

Middle School:

The 6th grade Student of the Month for February is Hunter Rodriquez.  Hunter is the son of Don and Tina Rodriquez. His favorite subjects are math and science.  His favorite teacher is Ms. Spencer because she is nice and helps a lot of people. Hunter enjoys playing football and basketball and running track.  He also enjoys spending time planting and working in gardens. Hunter plans to go to college and hopefully play football, but he hasn’t decided what he wants to study.  His teachers said, “Hunter is very polite and comes to class every day ready to learn. He is well mannered and very attentive in class. He has a wild imagination and always has interesting questions.  I enjoy having him in class as he keeps me on my toes always with a joke to tell!”

The 7th grade Student of the Month for February is Destiny Cotten.  Destiny is the daughter of Kendall and Misty Cotten. Her favorite subject is reading and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Delafield because she is a fun teacher.  Destiny is involved in Student Council, 4-H, basketball, volleyball and track. She likes to read and write in her free time. Destiny plans to go to college and study in the medical field so she can take care of her family. Her teachers said, “Destiny is new to the district and is involved in athletics, academic UIL and Student Council.  She is a quiet student who goes about her business and is always willing to help others.”

The 8th grade Student of the Month for February is Edgar Yanez.  Edgar is the son of Jaquiline Carmona. His favorite subject is history and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Herrera because she can explain her lessons in a simple way.  He participates in football and he enjoys running and jogging outside. Edgar plans to go to college and study to become an engineer. His teachers said, “Edgar is a great student and a joy to have in class.  He is very helpful when working with other students and respectful to everyone. He is a talented artist and enjoys any assignment that involves illustrations.”

High School:

The 9th grade Student of the Month for February is Aubrey Dow.  Aubrey is the daughter of Tara Baylor. Her favorite subject is art and her favorite teacher is Ms. Meier because she has helped with her art in so many ways.  She participates in Art Club and Band. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, singing, small animation and voice acting. Aubrey plans to major in animation or art and hopefully become a voice actor.  Her teachers said, “Aubrey is a diligent student and always completes any task to the best of her abilities. She is a leader whenever she is participating in a group project and is consistently responsible for making sure her group does as it should.  She is creative, respectable, clever, and is most deserving of the student of the month title.”

The 10th grade Student of the Month for February is Paula Landor.  Paula is the daughter of Tana Faulk. Her favorite subject is Ag and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Josie Seale because she always inspires her students to do better.  Paula participates in Student Council, Interact and UIL. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her best friend, Yasmin, and writing poetry. Paula plans to attend Lamar University and later become a psychiatrist.  Her teachers said, “Paula is always well behaved in class and works very hard to keep her grades up. Additionally, Paula is very involved in Student Council and Interact Club. She is a reliable and hardworking volunteer at our events and we value her contributions greatly!”

The 11th grade Student of the Month for February is Adolfo Castro.  Adolfo is the son of Francisco Castro and Teresita Gallardo.  His favorite subject is school is Spanish and his favorite teachers are Mrs. A Mathews, Ms. Brandy, Mrs. Delafield, and Mrs. Fussell because they are always there for him when he needs them.  Adolfo enjoys trying new places and spending time with his best friend Kiana. He plans on going to college, but hasn’t decided what he will study. His teachers said, “I chose Adolfo because he has become a very dependable student who always gives 100%.  He always has a smile on his face and enjoys engaging in peer to peer and teacher conversations.”

The 12th grade Student of the Month for February is Emmanuel Vargas.  Emmanuel is the son of Guadalupe Vargas and Narciso Arellano. His favorite subject is Ag and his favorite teacher is Mr. Jesse Harrison.  Emmanuel enjoys listening to music in his free time. Emmanuel plans to get a job and work after he finishes high school. His teachers said, “Emmanuel is always engaged and completes all of his work.  He is always courteous in class and has some of the top scores.”
