March Students of the Month

SAISD - Students of the Month for March


Elementary:


The Pre-K Student of the Month for March was Starla Parrish. Starla was chosen for this honor because she is very cooperative with her teachers and she is very kind to the other children. She is also a good student and knows all of her capital letters and most of her lower case letters. Starla is the 3-year-old daughter of Kindle and Will Parrish, and her teachers are Mrs. Sylvia Nielson and Jackie White.


The Kindergarten Student of the Month for March was Londyn Wilson. Londyn is a great leader in the classroom. She volunteers to help others whenever she is needed, and she helps her peers all throughout the day. She would like to attend a college in Houston and one day become a teacher. Her favorite subject is Art and in her spare time she enjoys playing school with her little brother and she is teaching him what she has learned in school. Londyn is the daughter of Michael and Sheneka Freeman.


The 1st grade Student of the Month for March was Cooper Fussell. Cooper is an excellent student and was chosen because of his hard work this year. He has improved so much in reading (which he is above grade level) and in math as it is his favorite subject. When he grows up he would like to be a pilot. After school he enjoys playing on his IPad, with his toys, and outside when it gets hot. Cooper is the son of Meredith and Ben Fussell,

and he is in Mrs. Jenny Tanner’s homeroom.


The 2nd grade Student of the Month for March was Kaylee Davis. Kaylee is the daughter of Chassidy Maxie. The character trait for this month was leadership, and Kaylee was a clear choice. She is not afraid to take control of a project or a situation and get things done. Some of her favorite things to do at school are writing, math, and playing with her friends. When she is at home her favorite things to do are to bake cookies with her Mom, sister and brother. Kaylee would like to be a teacher when she grows up. Kaylee is in Mrs. Katie Warner classroom.


The 3rd grade Student of the Month for March was Briahna Garrett. Briahna is the daughter of Chudney and Demeko Garrett. She loves to play outside, especially basketball and gymnastics. She loves family reunions because they get competitive. At quieter times she enjoys reading and drawing. Her favorite things at school are Reading and Science. Briahna has no pets, but if she did, she would have a monkey and its name would be

“Sugar”.


The 4th grade Student of the Month for March was Jahyda Brooks. Jahyda is as smart as she is pretty. Her focus is being a good student and she is always ready to help. She is truly a leader by holding herself and others at a high level of accountability. Her favorite thing to do is run. She runs at school and at home. Her favorite subject in school is reading and her hobby is playing basketball. She also says that she enjoys singing and that it helps to keep her on the right track. Jahyda wants to be a famous basketball player when she grows up and then wants to be a cheerleader. Jahyda is the daughter of Courtney and Kelvin Brooks.


The 5th grade Student of the Month for March was Mathew Lara. Mathew’s favorite subject is Math and he enjoys playing baseball in his spare time. He would like to be a game warden when he grows up. Mathew was asked what he likes most about our school and his reply was that he likes how we all work together, whether it be teaching the students, cleaning the cafeteria, or picking up trash. Mathew’s parents are Mauricio and

Cayla Lara, and he has a sister named Olivia. Mathew’s teachers are Mrs. Ashley Burks, Mrs. Jennifer Morton, and Miss Jessica Fuller.

Middle School:


The 6th grade Student of the Month for March was Nehemiah Jackson.  Nehemiah is the son of Britney Jackson. His favorite subject is math and his favorite teacher is Ms. Pineiro because she is always teaching him new notes on his clarinet.  In his free time, Nehemiah enjoys playing his clarinet, fishing and playing video games. He plans to go to college after he finishes high school and he really would like to go to New York.


The 7th grade Student of the Month for March was Aidan Davis. Aidan is the son of Marsha Kaye Davis and Luther Lamar Davis. His favorite class in school is athletics and his favorite teacher is Coach Morris because he always pushes his students to do their best.  Aidan is involved in track and field. In his free time, he enjoys playing baseball and X-box. Aidan plans to go to work in the oil field when he graduates high school.


The 8th grade Student of the Month for March was Aliya Jenkins. Aliya is the daughter of Kathalena Brown and Hitachi Jenkins. Her favorite subject is reading and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Herrera because she is a very good math teacher.  Aliya is involved in band and volleyball. In her free time, she enjoys singing, listening to music, drawing, making her own books, and skateboarding. Aliya plans to go to college to become a veterinarian, a dentist, or maybe even a pro athlete.

High School:


The 9th grade Student of the Month for March was Yessenia Valenciana. Yessenia is the daughter of Isabel and Abel Valenciana. Her favorite subject is English and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Erath because she has good teaching techniques is very patient while teaching. Yessenia is involved in band, UIL and Interact Club.  She is interested in writing and photography. Yessenia plans to go to college after high school, but hasn’t decided on what she wants to major in.


The 10th grade Student of the Month for March was Emily Palacios. Emily is the daughter of Maria Ines Labrada and Enrique Palacios. Her favorite subjects are English and ag.  Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Josie because she is a very kind and helpful teacher that wants what is best for her students. Emily is involved in HS band, majorettes, yearbook, FFA and Interact Club. She loves reading at home, especially on rainy days.  She also loves organizing and hanging out with her friends. Emily plans to go to college and study for a career in the medical field.


The 11th grade Student of the Month for March was Abraham Palacios. Abraham is the son of Enrique and Maria Palacios.  His favorite class in school is athletics and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Erath because she is a good English teacher. Abraham is involved in baseball and he likes to build and create things in his free time. He plans to go into the pipeline industry after he completes high school.


The 12th grade Student of the Month for March is Abby Murray.  Abby is the daughter of Brent Murray and Marsha Gallagher.  Her favorite subject is English and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Josie because she makes the ag classes fun. Abby is involved in yearbook, FFA, PYRA and THSRA.  She enjoys watching and participating in rodeos. Abby plans to attend Panola College after she graduates high school and start working on a degree in animal science.
