November Students of the Month - High School

The 9th grade Student of the Month for November was JoLon Garner.  JoLon is the son of Alex and Ideria Garner. His favorite subject is English.  His teacher said, “Jolon is a great student. He comes to class prepared and ready to work every day.”  Jolon is a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church where he serves as an Usher and a Deacon trainee. Jolon enjoys walking his great dane Titan and his favorite sport is football. Jolon is also a member of the SA Marching band where he plays the saxophone. After High School, Jolon plans to attend Texas A&M to become a Naval Architect with honors.

 

The 10th grade Student of the Month for November was Joel Deville. Joel is the son of Rebecca Deville.  His favorite subject is geometry. His teacher said, “Joel is the student you can always count on to do the right thing.  He works hard at everything he does whether it is academics or band.  Not only is Joel a dependable, hardworking student, but he ALWAYS has an upbeat attitude that is contagious in the classroom.”  Joel is a member of the San Augustine Band and serves as a drum major and is involved in Academic UIL and Tri-M. He enjoys chilling with his siblings and his mom whenever he gets a chance!  Joel plans to attend Texas A&M to major in engineering or Stephen F. Austin for music.

 

The 11th grade Student of the Month for November was Leslie Munguia Olalde.  Leslie is the daughter of Leticia and Cesar Musico. Her favorite subject is history.  Her teacher said, “Leslie always has a positive attitude and stays engaged in her school work. She is artistic, displaying her art work in great detail. Leslie is a leader in and outside of the classroom, a class officer and active in many school organizations. She is the perfect nominee for this month’s Student of the Month.”  Leslie is involved in Student Council, Interact, yearbook, Tri-M, National Honor Society, Art Club, Band and twirling. In her free time, she enjoys practicing her twirling skills and learning new things. Leslie plans to attend college and become a social worker.

 

The 12th grade Student of the Month for November was Jolene Nance.  Jolene is the daughter of Casey and Kelly Nance. Her favorite subjects are math and English.  Her teacher said, “Jolene is an exceptional student, member of the Honor Society and Honor Roll. She participates in many extracurricular activities, such as Band, UIL Academics. Jolene is a kind, compassionate, and thoughtful young woman. She hopes to major in biochemistry in college, attend medical school, and become a surgeon. When she graduates this year, we will miss her but will wish her much success with her ambitious future plans.”  Jolene enjoys twirling, reading and doing make-up in her free time. She is involved in Student Council, Interact, UIL, National Honor Society, band and twirling. She plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin after she graduates.
