News from the Wolf Den - March 19th, 2014

We are back and running after a week's Spring Break.  The spring is packed with some of the most important things we do as a school - standardized testing.  This will start early in April, with an additional week at the beginning of May.  Report cards for the 3rd 9-weeks session will go out today, Thursday March 20.

The San Augustine High School Student Council (STUCO) has done it again!  For the 6th year in a row, the SAHS STUCO came home with a Sweepstakes rating and Outstanding Student Council award (the highest rating available).  These awards are based on several things, one of which is completion of numerous community and school projects.  Our Student Council was also elected Parliamentarian for District 4.  And to top these honors off - Rod McLerran, STUCO advisor, was elected by District 4 advisors for the Advisor of the Year award for the state of Texas.  A picture of these award-winning and hard-working students can be found elsewhere in the Tribune.

The high school welcomes more technology with the addition of a new computer lab!  The new lab has a capacity for 20 computer stations, each with a 64-bit Windows 7 operating system, becoming the third large-capacity lab available for students and teachers.  The new lab is located in room 322.  Also on the technology front, congratulations to the Elementary campus as they begin integrating the use of 15 new iPads into their various classrooms!

SAHS hosted tryouts for the 2014-2015 cheerleading squad the Friday we let out for Spring Break.  Congratulations to the following young ladies:  Britney Bluford, Kierra Houston, Emieracle Roland, Latavia Edwards, Ky'Ashlyn Price, SheQuedra Sigler, Jada White, LaJada Johnson (co-captain) and Jazmine Watts (co-captain).  Great job!

Yearbooks for the 2013-2014 school year are still on sale!  These books hold wonderful memories for both the students and their families, so please consider purchasing one.  If you would like further information about the yearbook, you may call the school at 936-275-9603 and ask for Ms. Sandi Russell.  You may also inquire via email at [email protected].

And if yearbooks are still for sale, that means that advertisements are still for sale!  Keeping the price of the yearbook as low as possible for students' purchases is so important - we want to make them as affordable as possible.  We depend on advertising sales to do that.  Please consider placing an ad in the yearbook - it is a great way to support our students and to advertise your business at the same time.  You can contact Ms. Sandi Russell at the phone number and email address provided above.

One final word concerning yearbooks!  We have yearbooks from previous school years for sale.  There are only about 5 left from the 2012-2013 school year, but we have quite a few left from school years 2011-2012 and 2010-2011.  Other years are also available.  You can call Ms. Russell for all the information on purchasing a yearbook from prior years.
