News from the Wolf Den - May 21st, 2014

"An Evening in Paris" occurred in San Augustine this past weekend.  The Senior Prom was held at the Museum Theater and it was lovely.  Ms. Brittany Nicholes led the efforts to create a prom to remember; she was assisted by Mr. Donny Johnson, Ms. Sharon Taylor, Ms. Miranda Walker, members of the PTO, and several members of the seniors' families.  Awards given included:

·         Most Beautiful - Jasmine Harper

·         Most Handsome - Desmond Tanner

·         Mr. and Ms. SAHS - Jarvis Payne and Cordestine Clifton

·         Prom King and Queen - Jarvis Payne and Cordestine Clifton

SAHS hosted its spring Blood Drive last week.  As always, our students and staff really turned out for this semiannual event.  A total of 38 "products" were collected from 42 donors - given that one product can help save the lives of 3 people, almost 120 people could potentially be impacted by the generosity of our staff and students.  Additionally, because we host 2 blood drives per school year, the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center gives two $100 gift cards for the seniors' Project Graduation.  Thanks to everyone who donated.  Thanks, also, to my "student helpers" Desmond Tanner, Anthony Nguyen and Cordestine Clifton.  And special thanks go to the Blood Center staff who came to our campus - it is always a pleasure to have you with us!

This year's Athletic Banquet was held Monday evening at the High School gymnasium.  Awards went to the following athletes:

·         Male Cross Country MVP - Mark Moreno

·         Female Cross Country MVP - Ve'Shun Lacy

·         Volleyball MVP - Vantaysha Lister

·         Football MVP - Dez Randle

·         Female Basketball MVP - Vantaysha Lister

·         Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year - Ve'Shun Lacy
