Hughes mention don't sweat the small when he was an administrative nutritional Services student or the chief of police Karen Noble open to discussion for parents after their thoughts as to how they feel is going to bring a board stated she believes things are going well so far Shane Griffith sent the district for their great work they do for the student 4-H and FFA weighed in last Saturday and there was a heavy turnout he also discussed bringing the show animals the elementary right before the show in March where can I buy Shane and S by Laura Shire to adjourn the meeting was adjourned by 10:29 a.m. thank you. Especially for the previous minutes like most improved Photon that I wanted to favor a lot today but I want to talk to cook couple things next week we do have winter break coming up next to be February 23rd through the 25th so we're going to have a few days to be often and rejuvenate and come back ready to go we are working right now on our calendar for next year we met as a group of on the calendar committee and we've got some things in place the campuses are going to be going a few minutes longer every day but we're there anyways so we're will be able to accumulate a few minutes it might may help us throughout the year of planning other Advanced so and of course things are going well and and we're looking at doing maybe something in March of two for our car District or is it at maybe possibly a day that we taken mark because we've been really fortunate because we have you have to think about and we've not closed there's been covid and bad weather and we have not closed the door to this District in a long long time so I'm very proud of everybody for working so hard at keeping our doors open but other than that we're doing great I know that the campuses are doing fine and now they've got a good report today everybody is in good spirits and I think that as far as I know everything is very positive I think you see any questions for me can we have an update for the elementary campus I said everything is going well on Evans Elementary campus healthwise all our teachers and staff are doing well we've been having a lot of eventful things take place at the elementary campus lot of the right things going on this path week we celebrated our counselor she's done a phenomenal job this year PTO came on there Friday and gave her a Amazon card so we just so excited about all things of having an elementary school after living said everybody is in good spirits and we're just rolling so our PE Department our physical education classes have started raising money for jump rope for the heart so we're excited for the tentative date for that will be March 11th so hopefully everything works well and were able to do I jump rope for heart on March 11th but everything is going well on the elementary, so I'm excited. Thank you Middle School okay going on a health standpoint we are in the middle of our fitnessgram so weird collecting all of those in the PE room I am getting those entered online that the next step is to make sure we have the fitnessgram interest online we do have a relatively High confirm number of pregnancies on so per capita with we are we are in in the rear flank area right there and there's not there's a red flag but just a concern for the shack meeting committee will discuss do we have a session for that right now what kind of I don't know what options are available busy Berry questions or comments to address that we do help in our Middle School are 7th graders do I know there's curriculum available like worth the wait which is very scripted and you know the teacher has to follow the script parent have to give approval for kids to even listen to a participate in it I'm not sure I Know A District I know a district ID in 8th grade as opposed to 7th grade so you know it's something that if we held up to 8th grade you know we might need to be part of that but definitely I mean we say I'm in this that's a huge at stay after we've had in the past couple of years and then I think that the past three years combined we haven't had as many as we've had this year I definitely think it's some sort of education is needed and I did I know that lie ahead it'll be about another program that were looking at so I pushed that to Deborah Evans who's our curriculum instruction director so anything like these and did you have in mind any kind of program we need to look at if you push that to her and as far as your help being offered at a different grade levels yeah that that's your that's your principles we can work with them if if that's kind of what they need to go within our schedule cuz it's definitely something mr. small do you feel that there's another approach or that that we could take or more resources that we could I know that we have we have availability if we need a dish resources we can we'll find someone to come in and speak to the kids whatever we could we need to do the shack committee meeting appropriate or great lover appropriateness do we need to drop it down sooner do we need to have scheduled guest speakers and things like that so I guess that's that's really for our discussion of course yeah I think we need all of that but I wanted to be collaborative and images I just have one comment my opinion I wouldn't take it away from 7th grade and move it tastes great I'll give it to both of them. One program that was we were having I just making sure that that program can be offered in two separate not even one include six you know the first start we can be creative and do some different stuff if we want to make part of coursework which is probably where we get the most bang for our buck anyway you know just kids and smaller groups as opposed to assemblies. And like I said the stuff I know worth the wait parents could come up preview the curriculum they had to sign off that they were okay with it teachers had to follow a script so it was very controlled you know and parents that they opted out their kids could opt out that they have to be they were room from the classroom and giving alternative assignment so there's a whole process to it but I definitely will it run all that through seeing eye and make sure that you know Mister small and see what we want to do what programs are available for the ones that are they are pregnant as far as giving somewhat normal CNA certification if it is possible I had to go handle that in there I'm just eating it on the subject. which is more I'm not going to anymore but it with attendance purposes she has a homebound teacher that goes home at the high school or is she is it has completed Veil ability to that's pretty much the extent she's come my office a few times throughout the before having the baby but I mean it's just a continue on campus support but I'm going to follow up on something they're really not freaking out are they they're not pretty they smiling and laughing and it wasn't we're going to try to address its best way we can so I will be in touch will have to go home and get on these services that you're talkin about or could they just stay there until if they're doing good induced and so I had a note saying she was going to be out from this day until this day and that's how we provide education we have a homebound teacher who takes care of her education while she's gone I mean yeah you know it or whatever what you're asking about is it good they are out for their maternity leave 6 8 12 weeks whatever the doctor gives them but services on campus once they were Turner unlimited very different when we were in school right you went home it's very different old school you just went to the house so this is good we keep we keep them in school myself we could men's go as long as we can the one we've had that has a baby so far is she's on campus and they're all in and school are all at school at the time of day we have one senior two seniors so sorry Jenny mean you don't know so the hours that they're all either they all plan to return they all take care of their coursework while we're gone we asked our students when do you think that would be a good time to introduce that kind of knowledge 7th 8th grade do you like as a 7th grader you would have been receptive to it whenever I was in 6th grade class and of course there were boys in there so you know how boys can be a little situation but I do believe my parents are kind of pissy about that conversation but it does need to be introduced weather that's in school or at home but I think school would be best and what about if the boys and girls were separated but that be easier cuz I know that's the number one complaint hungry I agree to my question is do you feel like if you learned about more about it at school do you think that would influence decisions later or do you need that too they need that more of that support from home I guess is my question bows and I think it's just easier to have it come from teachers at school and professional manner then rather at home cuz you know we have a lot of parents are as like I said even my pants or will it be on that conversation cuz I mean that's very nerve-wracking to think about your kids but I think just both sides like even with the girls who are pregnant now I mean they need to school to 4th and K you know you're not alone if your parents aren't there you can turn to the school and then I think even at home supports Grand Buffet destiny near the top of pregnant now health services update well good news is covid is down thank goodness we're still doing our reports we have three that we have to do every Monday that we are trying to get certain people and and our numbers been dropping steadily probably some still out there that's not getting reported that there were reports that we have are certainly coming down that's a good news bad news has a stomach bug we have just had it has been atrocious it's just hanging on its we've had several home with it and it's a we're fighting it right now but hopefully we're seeing it come to an end soon the flu have not seen again not that much this year I'm so happy about that getting ready for our 7th and seniors may have went what do you have on your campus you can tell us that it was April the 8th of that way towards I think for our 7th graders that are coming in before they leave about all we've got on our our student pantry is going really well we've had a little bit of a black and picking up the bag lightly I think Friday before last we probably had eight bags and I think the only two were picked up so we've those students and kind of working with them to give them a little bit of encouragement to come back and get the bag cuz they are needed but other than that the pregnancy thing with the only other issue we have going in Baybrook I don't know if you're wearing or not probably are but are on our immunization clinic it's free if they're if it's before they're 18 so anybody that we know of that that's going off to college or trade schools now some employment have to have their cuz I 150cc quad expensive and we can save him a good bit if we can get them before they're 18 after they're 18 we can't we can help them out so any seniors that you know of with Sandy but I need to talk to Sandy about that remind her nothing else do we have a counseling for mental health update welcome to my counseling you I was going to bring up the truck I can be a mini rolls. Betty Showcase tonight for 8th graders to go get to see all of our different programs of study that we have available for courses next year we're kind of trying to get that so that we've got plenty of time to work on it especially since I won't be here for a month you know, pregnancy leave until the end of the year where it's crazy haven't been talking with Dan about our peace officer instruction with our Juniors and seniors lie and I and I'm trying to figure out the best time to make sure all of our seniors have their CPR education meaning those graduation requirements and really we had great plans and then just got crazy and so what time is your showcase I'm in audrina's go and one of its kind of the one that would concern take me to Moses Art nursing science program it is blown up I mean her kids that's probably one of our most popular second most popular for sure nurse that Kayla Moody is actually a region 7 today. learn about how to strengthen that program of study so we've had what three students received their CNA death certificate so definitely a lot of excitement about that confetti and how it can benefit the community so do you have an update on musical education thank you for Patricia Neal services in Sharon same old thing you just trying to get out Tuesday and I make my orders on Wednesday to try to get them in early enough to see you're going to be out of and then Friday morning I get the ice and it's almost everything that I ordered so the menu you're not going by the menu now we just trying to do what we change Wikipedia kiddos so in fact I had my manager from the elementary school called me this morning and she said Miss sharing if we don't hurry up and get out of school we're not going to you know it's just a squirrel do you know when you doing the best that we came it was real bad flies are they trying to I mean I don't know who they were who's supposed to help that the government to say I don't who help get that stuff through is there any help if no product is no product so I'm actually looking at running out of been up and see these kids never do that by the way but there will be something for them to eat it might not be what's on the menu but we will feed them do you know weight gain program to eat anything you put in wrong and I haven't had any students to comply read to me so we're just doing the best we can do you know chief of police that date a couple things for the like Brooks said next week I'm going to do the interaction with law enforcement training for the juniors in the seniors I'm currently on the list to get to become CPR instructor to help out with the nurse has one of our biggest issues is still communication how are we have ordered radios we just don't know where they are and what the other with the food also I put in a grant for more radios are fixing to try to get some more on that stray dog issue is not as bad as it was only ran two of them off this month well I made it other concern is we didn't threat assessments this last month and that's the most we've done it a month so the mental health is probably my biggest concern right now I don't know everybody's in the same boat I don't think we're offering as much help as we can for everyone I know that the counselors are you'll let me know you're staying full so how many of those came through the stop it app and how many were just told to you self harm threats and do those children come themselves to somebody or how are you learning about those you staying there in front of them have been self-harm threats and a lot of it bullying are gotten in trouble and that's when they use it are climate so is this like middle school high school it's actually pretty surprised Elementary number and I hate to say it I don't know cuz you I don't even know how how to draw a line in it but they're picking it up from the other ones you know learning it so I don't know we have protocol that we are following each and every time we have a meeting so it's not just on one person. threat assessment if they made a declaration of self-harm they have to go be evaluated and receive permission or clearance to return to school before they can come back but have to have there been let's be clear mentally I don't know it's just worth everybody's and you know it's just a special time everything cuz it's just something we need to be aware of it I don't know how to fix it but we got our counselors and we've got you know we've got our Mr Carraway it's cool we got counselor who got three councillors at the high school we got accounts worth Elementary and we have you know we have people who reach out and help these children so we do have several children who seem to be in trouble but I can tell you just from having grandchildren and another school district not far from here there seems to be an issue everywhere I'm not sure I kind of want to blame Tik Tok or some of the Social Media stuff but I don't know that it hasn't helped in many ways to to stop at his it is and if anything it is inside a lot of the issues that we're seeing so but we're going to take care of these kids some good thing about Saint Augustine as you can just think it and people know it you know so if the kiddos in trouble there for snow at their family knows it in and we will. almost immediately so and we have to stop at app kids aren't afraid to use that and that couldn't it comes to everybody that principals and everybody gets that text message so we know there's an issue and we deal with it immediately but I think that it we're doing very well with the threat assessments I think we're handling it like we're supposed to wear falling all the guidelines so I feel very comfortable about that that we're taking care of business when it when it happens so I don't want anyone to think that we're not handling it because we are we have a deficit in our part cuz our counselors are doing a jam up job, they are working hard and they're doing good so it's not us is everywhere but yes I'm very proud of what they're doing up here for schooling pretty much what I have to make any questions or comments concerning as far as the student update on yesterday we actually had an assembly based on team balance speaking of which since I was just play some pointers in tips on being aware that came by and continue Dating Violence is real and the size and red flags that we need to be aware that students and then on a positive and a higher than this mean I actually attended Raleigh are you guys at don't know that is basically a leadership camp with the Rotary Club here in town and we had to fill out an application and write a short essay and we were able to go and they paid for it it was just for the weekend but it was really great experience and this mean I had a blast actually we're invited to go back next year to be count Camp counselors congratulations okay so right now school is going pretty good it's just a senior if it's like you know count down today but we got this many months left you know it's just out of excitement but some of us but it just making sure that we enjoy every day with our classmates and our friends and like y'all brought up about the CNA certification I became certified on February 1st so that's good and college classes have been going good regular courses are doing good as well and we're just excited graduations next we'll have our program I was originally going to talk for just a minute about The Advocate Children's Advocacy Center but has needs to come over so I don't have to do dual roles this morning call vamsi for the word set at least one other SAC meeting and y'all are doing a great job this is this is awesome that y'all really are doing that's not just checking the box but this is great discussion and I think it plays into what the African Center does so we mainly deal with child sexual abuse those are the majority of the cases we see we do also deal with severe physical abuse has recently taken on the position as a Saint Augustine coordinator so she's here in Saint Augustine most every day she pretty much comes to our Center office one day a week but we're fortunate to have her here pretty much full-time and taking on that role of all things Augustine we do have counselors that come down our counselors see kids free of charge they qualify for our counseling because of us being grandson did they qualify for our counseling if they have experienced them it doesn't have to be something that's proven or prosecuted but if there is some type of report name of abuse or perming they qualify for our mental health counseling so I got that we do have those counselors that are coming here also Jade is our friends again of you were so which means that she should stay on one-on-one it when there is an allegation of child abuse and I'll say the most of those reports come from the school teachers are teachers and school administrators are number one so when she gets a report in she'll talk to law enforcement gets involved also child protective services and they decide what the plan is to be from there but she'll sit down at her office here if y'all haven't seen that office it's great child friendly comfortable environment for her to sit down one-on-one with the child and went in a very structured format get them to tell their story and it's recorded and law enforcement prosecutor in dentist they're all in the room together watching that in a in a separate room to it's a child story so we also have a family advocate is doing an interview here or has a lot of different moving parts and you can kind of see by the pamphlet that I that I can't be there is lots of different this is kind of a complicated process but you do also have what we call a multidisciplinary team meeting so Jade meets with local law enforcement in a case she meets with them once a month and I talked about the status of all the open cases they let you know have the opportunity to brainstorm together and so they have that meeting once a month what else J the main parts of you notice on your pan there's a 1-800 number if you need to make a report you can report online we recommend you you're welcome to call Jane and almost a girl probably have her contact information or call our office and center and we can get in touch with her it's if it's a situation which we have happened quite often with the end of the school the child does not need to go home and might be in potential harm if they do go home contact been immediately so we can get the ball rolling on on talking to that child and see what needs to be what what intervention needs happened so that that child does not go home and experience that abuse again but the 1-800 number is on the pain there's also website you can report online but we recommend using the 1-800 number or talkative and directly RJ and we can help Direct in and get those reports made more quickly Ben you got anything else to add I'm just tired of Jade saying tell me more about that you're not supposed to ask as much as possible to avoid direct questions so you want to ask as many open-ended questions as possible to let the child tell you and their words as much as possible so you have to retrain your brain on how you ask people questions and talk to people about things but it is a big learning process when you go with 35 or however old I was when I went to learn to ask a question so yes me and the girls go invited on my the way I ask questions at home when I want to know more about something he'll tell me to stop interviewing them we'll have some more but I'm super proud of every so far we've been working as a singing in a little bit of business taken care of that we're glad you are down here full-time benefits of that bug counseling is important to and get it may not be there probably full. We had to add a couple of our other counselors three different counselors that are coming down here at some point Jessica is kind of the main Saint Augustine counselor cuz she's from brought us so it's just easier but we actually have three coming down here now and our counselors we keep full-time and an intern right now and we usually have a waiting list for counseling clients so it's not just what's happening also does a g in the school we have would normally be concentrated on K through five with what we it's kiss my it's my body is that what we call a program and then there's also a video that we use sometimes in those videos can go on up through 12th grade we utilize those so much just because it's been hard to get to all the grades but that is available and I know some of those are about you know Dating Violence in different different topics that you may be interested in she's worked thank y'all for letting us being the school and into that prevention program so that we know our ultimate goal is to invest in this thing up screen so that we can prevent it and we're not always dealing with all the complicated things that happen from picking up the pieces after these after these kids experiences trauma but we hope to to be able to invest at streaming in and see some benefit from that and experience of a pension Denise we are required by t.i. to do so many professional development hours opportunities and it gets to be where they're just so many and frankly most of us are tired of having to do it on the computer it just kind of takes away a lot of you know that personal one-on-one you can ask question that type of thing would y'all be willing next year or something to possibly come and present to our teachers not our kids are teachers and fulfill some of these obligations and requirements that we we did this you're okay but I mean but if there's if there's even more this year and it may be a little bit so we can talk before that time yes the better relationship we have teachers who's the more likely they're going to call us and feel comfortable talking to us even I mean just just to ask questions you know should this is this something that needs to be reported or this is what I'm thinking or what one of your counselors the other day and she explained the situation and then we kind of made a game plan of what should happen from there so we would love that we need to have relationships with your teachers just because they're the eyes in the ears they see what's going on they notice different behaviors of child sexual abuse is not something that anybody want talk about but they are the ones that are seeing these kiddos and they know what's normal behavior they know when something's not quite right and we need to talk about that we need to investigate that and the more the more we can talk about it the more training we can do you know if it's a subject that like I said nobody wants to talk about its horrific but it is happening like Ben said it's it's happening it's happening here in your school and the more people that are aware that it's a problem in the more we talk about it the better off everybody's going to be well I think our teacher would appreciate that for sure you or recommendations for future do we have one more meeting. Okay have we said that yet March 15th March 15th okay approved ed curriculum I'm in attached with his great leveler will let me go back and read about the pop our district policy y'all not going to approve it and then the board will have to do the rest good point mr. small thank you anything else do we have a motion to adjourn stomach motion thank you all very much call Simon mobile I know me too well I was just trying to get you back all they require sitter on us this year before I mean we had like 15 on edge of hero that we had to do anyway this cashier and people just keep their eyes glazed over but maybe four or five of those maybe I will let you look at him and you tell me which ones y'all think y'all can address because we're people just can't do that computer that much anymore if we could just take a day and just rotate like that whole day have people rotating through the different programs like we used to do. Keep us from going crazy Hero Mashers 15 hours 15 it was horrible for me was horrible. I remember that probably say hi in Iraq Ruby Ruby Payne I don't think now that this committee can decide that they can recommend that but y'all can go ahead and give us to do something not call that maybe this will help him something we need to get something away
