the end of the year is going well but both are becoming nervous and excited at seeing you here comes in in both girls were awarded the Buddy low scholarship along with two others that explains our priests depreciation and how much it means to them to be blessed by this financial assistance Ben Miller give the chief of police update with the increase in vaping numbers he would like to play modern modern team devices in the bathroom these devices would not only alert for Vapors in the air for also detect water leak carbon monoxide or even listen for keywords and Moises to alert staff of the safety issue in the restroom he would like to purchase around 20 to play Stratego about the Middle School / high school campus these devices cost approximately $2,000 each other local schools use and have great reviews the quality instruction Deborah Evans started off of discussion on the curriculum that she researched and determined to be the best fit while doing research she noted that only one curriculum was approved by the State Board of Education and Trust to prevent the goodheart-willcox to the council's the cheap ones are give me a hundred percent depart Texas ta States review panel offers only the high school health program adopted by the Texas and TOD developed by the teachers for Teacher the curriculum contains the basic health knowledge addiction drug use hygiene disease and injury help relationship teen Dating Violence puberty and Exedra there will be a different curriculum for more expensive sexual education content by a car in Austin for a parental Guardian if a parent does not give consent the student will not be given this portion of the companion text the companion text went to the reproductive system of each gender contraception pregnancy birth puberty at sentence violence prevention sexual Craftsman table saw and more the council voted to adopt the goodheart Willcox curriculum for the 7th and 9th grade students was the Austin auction for the sensitive content areas Virginia Littman says he'll be placed on the April board meeting agenda for pool a meeting with a motion to adjourn was made by lorus S by Virginia limits to adjourn meeting adjourned at 11:07 a.m. do we have any discussion of the minutes do we have and boats superintendent of it okay well I just have a couple things I will start with the no this is at the bottom but I just wanted to go ahead and say this apart we did have the goodheart-willcox curriculum on the agenda Thursday night at the board meeting and it was approved by the board other things that were approved we have got some wonderful incentives that we're working on we were able to vote to approve the local days for our District employees in the past they've been where substitute for pay was deducted from the local days but they will be free next year and other incentives including a $500 Christmas bonus and a $500 spring bonus for next year was also approached we're still working on other a future and that's hopefully we will be able to do that as far as the vaping devices we are looking at those there the 20th at that we were talking about earlier that's $41,000 and I think that if we could just do not do so many maybe phase the man do a few at a time maybe five at a time and see how those work and perhaps then you know phase another one in and just really in the beginning just Target the the areas that we feel there are issues and it could be restrooms are other areas of the building so we're going to start off small and then grow from there because just they're so expensive and I don't think that 20 of that we are start off with so big so we're going to start little bit smaller and faces in I think that's about all I have it I'll take questions if anyone has any okay Elementary update 12 Elementary campus is doing well we have field day on Friday and we had no safety issues or any injuries than normal most all of the classes teachers or having a field trip today so I really excited to be able to and be able to leave the campus I could tell you was a toy barns I'll be proud because those kids can run they can run that was a really a fun fun day at most like thanks thanks for making Netflix Aaron's got to come out so they went wonderful just to have no Mass going to be able to talk and it was really nice for planning that so well lately well do we have a middle school high school that date what is this update whatever you want to do in letters for our incoming 7th grade students we have had a major decrease in anxiety and students lately as far as my office finishing up our end-of-the-year documentation and we are checking the seniors off this week for CPR vaccination clinic went well you don't have very many things so that half we got done about 1:30 did you get done or they won't get their schedules when I come into the 7th grade I will try to make it home and backpacks. I forgot that I tried to let them know in numerous ways but anyway we still have that one we have a counseling at night either right at inject free or create a poster and a 10 were selected to win they got offered to get these bubbles in a bag if I mean almost and then and then Tuesday and the children's activities dinner came out thank you Dave and did a personal safety lesson for pre-k through 2nd graders and those kids were into it I heard one little girl go and and then the following day and the alcohol and drug abuse Council came out and presented how to stop a bully to all of our kids and 1/8 thing to do if they're in a bullying that was very well received as well as in 5th grade girls asked me there like to bring him here and it's like so yes they just said to me the day before they're like first your bubble and tell you they were coming in here take it when I give it to you Henry this week and then we'll deliver again before School's Out we had prom last weekend it went really well and also I don't know whether it was and at least favorite recently we had some folks come and do a presentation for Gray 7 through 12 about teen dating violence and how to stop that and not be a part of it and we did it in five different grades with different things what we talked about to the singers to not the same as what we talked about the 8th graders and we're real busy with a scholarship for our seniors are coming and it's looking real good really well and they mentioned last time then dinner we had four buddy low recipients which is not the norm that was his great stuff this is a really hard time for you saying because I know this is very busy time for you and thank you for everything because just the scholarship just that in itself is so time-consuming getting those kids to do at those applications in that type of thing so funky okay, today I know we're hard to get away physical education update Tori was supposed to come at me and I may speak up for him for just a second, can I add something to our Services were doing at toothbrush giveaway in for the kindergarten through first grade we had the toothbrush kids provided to us by the Masons in the kindergarten teachers that have come up with it a little video that we're going to play and talk about toothbrushes right but it's going to be sometime in May and I'll give you more details for a minute so I can have that and then took me to talk about we play for lightning you probably know a little bit more about it but there's House Bill 76 is a bill that has where we can offer for kids to get ECGs or EKG to play sports so it's really good for your eyes let it kids but basically there's a foundation to Cody Stephens Foundation careless and that they used to be in Houston but now they're in Florida and they will send us the equipment so that we can scream cuz they won't like at the table come up there. Try to talk to mr. Barnes about it to see when a good time to set that up would be but he's saying probably before football in the beginning of August so maybe if we can get it on schedule or before the students come back but we really liked what we did this several years ago and it was a great success they did it free for us the first time through the Cody Stephens foundation and then the next time the kids are required to pay $20 a time and I have to fill out a consent form and also it's very hard to get parents to do that at our school and then covid hit and then we didn't get to do it so we're we're really excited to have it back it was something that I really believed is the Methodist Church stepped up and said that they would pay for 200 EKGs so we just so thankful for that so they're going to give us a donation of the $4,000 which will include all the athletes that we can get to get their paperwork in and do and then we'll extend it to band and cheerleaders and that as far as for the 200 or the parent can talk then they can either I can sign them up or not but instant cardiac arrest in cardiac arrest and this is something that we dealt with in our local community not local local other places that if if something was detected beforehand that these kids might could get some help and prevent it from happening so it's something that Lee and I are very passionate about bringing we've got to work out the details I have another call in the morning but they they may send somebody but since they're in Florida now they may send the instructions and equipment to lie and I and we'll figure it out and we'll get working at incorporate our CNA class to come and help us do it so it'll be good for them learning and doing and then I'll be that way often this has happened that a child me out and I said child yeah young athletes have just died on the field and it's only this was known as it could have been prevented so he's very excited about it too and we are too so I'm glad that it's happening we should know more about it Erica to Morris, but we're shooting for doing it around the first or before school start do you happen to have a middle school high school update on anything right anything in general I guess we didn't have an update from that camp is really so we didn't know if you had anything I would say it's testing season so we're busy with that play Middle School fun day on Friday so we can use the medical system to track meet the ones that qualified that's funny. I'm just protecting that right now we had kids go to Regional UIL academic do I owe last week and we are going to have 2 Chainz go to state and number sins and then we have like one two three wake up five or six individuals going to stay we only sent five kids we were we placed third pierside number Sands and Mathematics really amazing bill goes State May 6th 7th and 8th fifth sixth seventh in the office this morning and talked. tell him to their over the moon really are are you sure we're able to you know make do as Miss Leslie stated Paddy field trip season so I have a poem on the web for them to fill out the form and submit it to us in plenty of time so we can make sure that we have what we need for the damages other than that everything is going good after school year in Albuquerque so everything is good I've been asked a question on Sheridan I thought maybe you could at least we could start thinking about this I've had some parents asked about the going back to the two options for lunches at the high school have we thought about that or how we're looking at that maybe we could make it we can revisit it okay that will be something that you would okay let's just remember to revisit that and talk about that for school starts and we always have peanut butter and jelly so they don't want what we on the line they can always get a green salad or peanut butter and jelly sandwich High School can you see okay let's just revisit it will just these parents have concerns will be able to tell him okay thank you good morning everybody it's far as a student update you know this past weekend we did have prom and it was very fun surprise we're a little worried about the numbers showing up but we had 25 out of about 35 of the seniors to show up so the numbers were really there it was really fun and the people that decorate in the people that offer food we are very thankful for that cuz I seen your class was a little short on funds and then as far as URL also in tyl with the guys that computer science and the math team I was one person short from getting to stay so you know there's a little let down but you know I was just happy to make it to the region do I owe meet again mikovits and then as far as track everyone knows our run tracking yes we're all excited to go to the regional track meet this year in the women's track side we are also very short on numbers and we have about six girls to go in girl going in jump and then we have two girls going in hurdles and in the past years we haven't had any girls that have pole vault so we have two girls in that so that's really accomplish meant for the track team and for scholarships begin them turned in and we've received I've received a few and so that's pretty good for me and then as far as just overall school as soon as we were trying to make it through the year and make it to graduation. If it's a month away now but where is Maddie coming first class picture which is a Bittersweet moment is exciting but it's also making the moment of realizing The Graduate you coming up a little more real and silver ain't going to do that this Thursday for the yearbook and that's exciting as far as scholarships and academics we're getting there we have two weeks left so that's a blessing and so we have that and then I thinking about 2 weeks are great to be pulled so you know for ranking so that's why it's coming up with quick on this and stuff it's just really all coming like winding down getting into the moment in life you know cherishing our last day all together so I'm excited also a little nervous but more so excited there's a song that it says you're going to miss this and nobody believe that but you will miss it then we're going to miss y'all too terribly terribly I'm sure anything else maybe you can have anything from the community to share with us today we're we're done we have a lot of things that's on the table if it is that's going on that's going to help everybody and you can we all know that when we had the winter storm and how the water situation came out we've gotten some funds to improve that especially it's just we look at it from a point that I nursing home if they do a water then it's it's almost catastrophic because they have to have water and three of us nursing facilities is on this side of town and they feed off of that water tower up on 96 so to help that we going to do run a direct line to that a water tower and then we have our old line that come from the hospital down to Bolivar from Bolivar up there if anything happened in between this even doesn't get water so a direct line it's going to really really help everybody and like I said I was more concerned about nursing homes and things like that but we are just you know vertical just hoping that I know a lot of you have noticed a lot of digging going around for fiber optics has landed down in some people that act what is that over there by the car wash and that's supposed to be a fiber optic Hub that they're putting in there so the help service better outside of that we just we're going to get Saint Augustine to 21st century on with you eventually soon or later any other items that we need to discuss before we adjourn Noah pretty much talk about the curriculum materials for human sexuality instruction they were approved at the board meeting Thursday night it's going to be a good heart Wilcox curriculum and it has been approved by the state board of education education 100% of takes involved in that so we feel real good about this curriculum course the part that's the Optimus as a separate part for the parents into off the kiddos in so I thought we feel really good about that and then we'll just when school start get going with that or even before school starts Deborah Evans our curriculum instruction director is not here today and of course we'll be working on that when she gets back and and that would be working next year for fourth grade are we didn't reduce 7 + 7 + 9 that she brought that point up that we might want to look at look I'll talk to her when she okay and is let them understand what's going on with your body it's been a long time since I've taught fifth grade but is there any help offered at all and he helped I don't think I ever taught help it when I was teaching 5th grade I think we ever had help education I don't know their new technology did the girls and the wait and see what we have available in that grade level did it have Layla sessions with them so they can I have a better understanding about things that's going on with them they may not have someone at home that they can talk to and they maybe get an event guide information from their friends or the internet or anywhere everything I need to get the right information I think that's a good that's a good idea write that down here and talk to Deborah about that okay I don't mean to jump you but I see Amy had a question Destiny people is it because they down and I don't understand it for him to view of some of the accomplishments that they have received but I got any text message from Beverley small who is my Administrative Assistant it is congratulations for Alyssa and Dad you got the same one we are very pleased to inform selected to receive a scholarship from Whataburger beating Student Success scholarship fund from San Antonio area foundation in the amount of $5,000 on to apply because she does work part-time at Whataburger and she felt like both ladies were a perfect candidate for it and they both received it part of they always down play how will they know how great of young ladies they are and how successful are cute candy and will be but I just wanted to make sure y'all were aware that were there just receiving blessing after congratulations young ladies and yeah I definitely yes I know anybody else what do we talk about next year's for us or do we till next year to to get electoral officer said that we did make it through that mess okay I would like to say something everyone here anyway it has a parent that you could recommend to be on this committee next year it's supposed to be a parent driven in anybody that you can pick up girls if y'all can think of a good student to take your place and parents if any of you could give us some some leads on parents that could could get away to do this said on this committee we would greatly appreciate it no problem thank you for coming do we have a motion to adjourn
