Bio

Dr. Virginia Doherty Liepman was born and raised in San Augustine and graduated from SAHS in 1971. She attended UT-Austin, and SFA, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She began her career as an elementary teacher, and later earned a Master of Science degree in Education and Child Psychology and a Mid-Management Certification. 

She served as Assistant Principal and subsequently as Principal for two Pasadena ISD elementary schools. In 1998, she earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) and founded “Color Them Gifted™” an educational consulting company focusing on identification of the gifted minority student.
 
In 2014, Dr. Liepman earned and was awarded a Superintendent Certification from the Texas State Board for Educator Certification. She has served as Superintendent for San Augustine ISD since 2014. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Region 7 Education Service Center.  
 
Dr. Liepman was recently named (TMEA) Texas Music Educators Association "Distinguished Administrator." In 2017, she was presented with the "Leadership Award" by the San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce. She has been invited to present numerous topics over her career as an educator.
 
Presentations include: 

1990-“Aspiring Administrators- presented to the graduating class of the University of Houston Clear Lake; 2015-“Aspiring Superintendents- The First-Year Experiences of Successful Superintendents,” Austin, Texas- Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) Convention; 2020- Invitation to participate in the TLL Temple Foundation & Deep East Texas Education Leadership Forum at the University of Texas at Austin- Topic- Rural Education Issues in Deep East Texas; and in 2021- Invitation to participate in a Webinar Discussion Panel on “Learning Loss Recovery-COVID-19” at the University of Texas-Austin.
